Dennis Wilson son - clearly written by a non writer without much input by an editor, this is a story of a stepson of Dennis Wilson who loved his rock star Dad but unfortunately mocks his lifestyle of drug use and destructive behavior. This is a fast read, that's a good thing, and jumps around without a clear trail removing some enjoyment from the read.BUT, if you are an interested Dennis Wilson fan as I am, there is just enough story telling from a different perspective to make the read worth your while. Yes, he's a drug addict. Yes, incredibly he serves time for bank robbery. And all this just adds to the story.

I've always loved The Beach Boys. Read all I can find about them. This isn't a bad book, it's just not very well written. I do not blame that on Scott. The book could benefit greatly from an editor. A real editor. Spelling errors throughout.

What an incredible, harrowing, heartbreaking story of a father and son, the second I opened the package with this book inside I started reading it and didn't put it down until it was done. As someone who suffers from complex-ptsd, Scott Wilson's story brought me to tears and I was able to relate to it on many levels. I recommend it for anyone who suffers from mental illness, abuse, trauma, or/and is a big beach boy and Dennis Wilson fan. So many new details in this book not previously known to the fans! This was a must read after an emotional visit to the historical landmark in Hawthorne after finding out Scott built it. I can't say enough about this latest edition. Beautiful and heart wrenching all at once. I think Mr. Wilson was incredibly brave to share his story and I thank him so much for having the courage to do so.
I purchased the kindle edition. Where are the pictures? All I have when it comes to the photo section is the words saying what photo it is supposed to be with a big empty space beneath !
I commend you for finding the strength to tell your story. For all the pain and torment you were so honest speaking your truth. The movie "About a Boy" came to mind when you reflected on your time in London. Please enjoy everyday as a gift. Smile at the past but live for your bright future. You deserve that and owe it to yourself.
The stories included are fantastic, heartwarming, heartbreaking and endearing. It is terribly written however and difficult to read due to the ridiculous grammatical mistakes. I purchased through and my copy is missing all the photos at the end which is very disappointing. Still, a great recount of the ups and downs of Dennis's too-short life as well as Scott's own similar demons.
The book was interesting to me. I felt like I was seeing Dennis Wilson through his son's eyes rather than through the Media or other sources. You can tell that this son loved his Dad a lot. Scott also owns his own mistakes along his journey and I have to give him credit for that. You get glimpses into what it's like to grow up with a rich and famous Dad who had his own deep issues. I enjoyed it.
